The Catcher in the Rye

There were a few things I enjoyed in this book.  I enjoyed the great detail the author described things.  I felt like I could actually see and feel what he was describing.  I also like the characters in the story because I feel as though people in school act the way he describes some.  Also, by having went to sleep away camp, I know how other kids behave when you behave in certain ways, and the author captured that exactly.  I did not like however, how the author constantly repeated things.  For instance, when the author repeatedly talked about Jane and when he constantly reminded the reader about how good of a dancer the woman in his hotel was.  One thing I did not understand was if Holden was expelled from Pencey why he was allowed to stay there for much longer.  I also wondered why he does bad in school? Personally, I believe it is because he is still grieving with the death of his brother, Allie.  I am aware of how people deal with death, and I think that he is not caring about school in order to deal with it.

I do agree with your description of holden. Also, i do see what your getting at with the repetitiveness, especially with the good dancer part. That was kind of annoying after he said it about 100 times
